How to choose the gimbal motors

Hi,

I am new to this community. We are going to design the gimbal with storm32 microcontroller board. so, I need to choose the motor for this gimbal. My camera and camera board setup weight is nearby 450g.
so, how to select the motor according to this specifications?
Also how to start with this storm32 board, suggest any documentation or resources?

I know you can get a pretty reliable estimation of motor torque with Nm = (8.3 x Amps) \ kv for BLDC motors. I think it works for gimbal motors also. Past that, I’ve no idea how to size the motor outside if “guess and check”

As for setting up the boards, here is a good forum post that might help.

For gimbal type use, I think finding a motor with fairly low cogging torque also matters? Trying to do FOC with anything short of the really complex cogging-torque-compensation algorithms used in “Cogging Torque Ripple Minimization
via Position-Based Characterization” (Matthew Piccoli, Mark Yim) and adopted in some O-drive firmware can be really tricky if the natural cogging torque of the motor is high. For motors designed as gimbals though I think this cogging torque is minimsed, so there’s no need for fancy algorithms to compensate for it?

Hi,
Actually, I am going to use the GM4108H-120T motor. One motor is sufficient or i have to use three motors for three axis. For developement, we are planning to use nvidia xavier nx board also. Is this good idea to continue or any drawbacks here?

Please help me guys.
