Seeking a Motor Smaller Than GM2804 for Small Gimbal Project

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a project to build a small gimbal, and I’m looking for a motor that’s smaller than the GM2804. The specifications of the GM2804 are:

  • Motor Outer Diameter: Φ35 ± 0.05 mm
  • Motor Height: 15 ± 0.2 mm

I need a motor with both a smaller diameter and height, suitable for gimbal applications. If anyone knows of such a motor or has any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate your help!

Thank you in advance.

There are often such motors on AliExpress, but the offers come and go… they are sometimes replacements for DJI type drones or maybe surplus from something else.

For reliable suppliers you could look at Maxon or Constar, just for example, but of course those won’t be cheap…

That Constar motor has a KV on the order of 4000. For gimbal operations you want that as low as possible. The motor is configured for 2.7A, preferably for gimball you’d want both to be 40x lower. So a max current of 60-70mA, and max RPM at 330V…

True - but constar also has other models with 36Ohm resistance… the tiny motors tend to have quite high KVs even when the resistance is high, I think because they’re so light they need very little current to move. But once you load them the RPM will drop a lot because they’re not very powerful…
