Ender3v2 mainboard FOC stepper motor control

Hi everyone,
This is a bit of a brainstorm idea. I saw a video from “teaching tech” about the possibilities of repurposing the enderv2 mainboard (https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=FJ9al1n0-pY&t=641s). He described it as a microcontroller board which includes a stepper driver shield.

I’m going to replace my enderv2 mainboard with an skr mini e3 soon and i was wondering if i could repurpose the mainboard for an stepper control project using simpleFOC?

How viable do you guys think this project could be?

If I’m not wrong the stepper drivers on this board use step-dir control whereas to use SimpleFOC you would need control of the half bridges…

But of course it could still be used for a project with steppers but no FOC…

the enderv2 mainboard has tmc2208 stepper drivers which indeed use step-dir control from what i can see. Thanks for the heads up
