Absolute position of 2 track magnetic encoder

hello, I would like to ask you about encoder like mu150, which uses 2 track magnetic ring

is it actually absolute value enocder? i found some publication, where they use master track counter to calculate absolute position, so after turning power supply off, it is lost. My experience with mu150 looks similar, after turning on voltage i don’t see same as while turning it off :confused: i am a bit confused

The datasheet says the following:

So it would seem it is absolute… perhaps you need to read a different register or give it some configuration options? I haven’t read the whole datasheet… But it looks like a very nice sensor, where can one get one? :smiley:
