Recommended reading for driver designers

I came across this application note from TI recently, which was new to me, and it seems has not been posted here before:

I’d recommend it to those of us designing our own driver boards.

While the parts about the TI Launchpad and it’s software development may not be so interesting, there are many details on design, component selection, board layout and stackup etc that I find very helpful. The board they are making is also quite compact, and similar in many ways to what many of us are working on.

I find particularly interesting the detailed sections on component selection, where they include several different components, compare their parameters and explain their choice for the one best fitting the design, as well as the detailed example calculations on things like maximum expected current ripple.

Thanks Texas Instruments for this nice application note!
