Is there an alternative to INA240AD to use in the SimpleFOCShield (v. 2.0.4)?

I am having trouble finding this chip in stock where I usually look. On EBay someone in China is trying for $7 which is a bit much.

I could see some brokers advertising it:

But I wonder if there is an alrernative that people have been using in this time of shortage.

Thanks for any info or suggestions!

Hi

You can try to find a suitable one here:

The short answer is no. The longer answer is you can redesign the board and use a hall current sensor. In fact, we are in the process of completely redesigning the power shield to use hall current sensors and not using anymore shunt+current sensor combo. One current sensor is only $0.5

Are you trying to fab the shield yourself?

Would you be willing to share a few more details about this effort? I’ve just ordered a board design with hall current sensors myself and am interested in finding out everything I can to better prepare for implementing them in software.

Please approach @Antun_Skuric about this. We are testing a new version of the board. If he is willing to share the development version I could send you the design.

Cheers,
Valentine
